This is the biggest scam ever. This is the WORST customer support experience ever and I know the tech support people were just following scripts and would not help me further unless I did these ridiculous troubleshooting steps.

I am having the same problem, except my player is a BDPS which is out of warranty. The problem appears to have started with installation of the current firmware, which firmware I believe IS the problem. Please see my customer support case for details: Case I have been referred out to Customer Relations. With enough tries I can often get it to connect to the net and to install my favorite app.
Once stream starts, it appears to be stable. Sony should warrant its firmware updates. Same problem with a BDP-S Started gradually, then every day, now multiple times a day.
Piece of garbage, purchased at the end of October. Amazon is sending me a replacement, but that one will fail too from the looks of things. Why are all of these people have the same problem all of the sudden???? I agree with. Forget about wireless, it keeps forgetting that as well. It's , we're not technologically incompetent.
I've already completed all of your troubleshooting steps, multiple times, before I attempt to waste an hour of my life calling you. I called the customer service hotline after receiving no help whatsoever on this community board, and the only thing they had me do was to perform a factory reset--even though I told them that's what I was trying to avoid, and I clearly didn't need a factory reset because it had been resetting itself.
I just got off the phone after establishing that go figure this solved nothing, so I'm eligible for an exchange. But apparently I'm just going to get the same exact model?? I even said to the customer service representative, "So you're just going to send me the same model that clearly has issues because everyone else with this model has been reporting the same problem I've been experiencing.
How is this a solution? Never again will I purchase a Sony product. The lack of response on this community board was one thing. Update your policies and procedures, Sony. I am having all the same issues as doglax I contacted chat and once they found out it was out of warranty they could no longer help. And I live big city.. I am having the same issues. We purchased this player in late December or early January The issue started happening very soon after we got it home. It has only shut itself off a few times, but almost every day when we turn it on it has been reset to factory defaults. We have to enter all of our information to connect to our wireless network and all of the login information for Netflix and Amazon.
I've been searching for recalls or fixes for months, and finally found this forum. We have to keep putting in the information. Once in a while we get lucky and it has not reset. We have a very similar model in another room that we've had for years with no problem.
Please, what is the workaround for this? We should not have to have a brand new player repaired. Is there a recall? Like I said, there was a rather big update maybe a month ago. Since then I haven't had the issue prior to that, happened every two weeks or so.

After it was working fine for a couple months, it's acting up again. Three times in the past week it would power off and when I turn it back on, went back to factory settings. Really had hoped the update had fixed it.
Apparently not. Getting to the point I might invest in a Roku to watch my Amazon and YouTube videos and just using this for just movies. Shouldn't have to do that, but getting annoying having to enter my wi-fi password, change a couple settings like the player turning on automatically when switching to the HDMI port and logging into my YouTube account. This problem is systemic and surely caused for a defect in the firmware. Sony has updated it once since this problem appeared with negative results. My player is a with exactly the same symptoms as the and uses the same firmware. Are you going to fix the problem or just ignore it? BTW, no one has ever responded to me on this Community site. Customer service has been unhelpful as my warranty is long since expired.

I like so many others am inclined to avoid Sony products because of this very negative experience. These are complete and total junk! I'm on my third one first 2 were under warranty and have had it for less than 2 years. Within the last 3 months, it requires me to "setup internet connection" each time we turn it on.
